For more than a century, The Explorers Club has stood at the vanguard of discovery—championing those who venture into the unknown to deepen our understanding of the world and protect its most fragile ecosystems. From the polar ice caps to the ocean’s depths, from outer space to inner forests, exploration has always expanded the frontiers of knowledge and illuminated the path forward.

Today, we face a defining moment. Recent cuts to scientific funding and research programs threaten not just the work of individual scientists and institutions, but the broader mission of exploration itself. Climate science, biodiversity conservation, oceanography, astronomy, and environmental sustainability—all stand at risk of being diminished at a time when the world can least afford it.

The Explorers Club cannot remain silent. We reaffirm our founding principle: that knowledge gained through exploration benefits all humanity. We are deeply concerned that the erosion of support for science will limit future discoveries, stifle innovation, and endanger the health of our planet.

Yet, we remain hopeful. Across generations and continents, explorers rise to meet adversity with ingenuity, courage, and collaboration. In that spirit, The Explorers Club is proud to reaffirm and expand our support for the next generation of explorers by pledging to increase grant funding in 2025 to empower fieldwork, scientific inquiry, and conservation efforts across the globe. We are actively working on this initiative and hope to have exciting news to share in the coming months. Now is the time to invest—not retreat. In partnership with our members, sponsors, and the broader public, we will continue to advocate for the vital role of exploration in shaping a more informed, resilient, and inspired world.

Because exploration is not a luxury. It is a necessity.

With kind regards,
