Inaugural Educator’s Roundtable Cohort Announced
NEW YORK, NY (September 14, 2026) – The Explorers Club is proud to announce a new professional development program for teachers, the Educator’s Roundtable. Building on the success of The Explorers Club Teaching Fellowship, the Educator’s Roundtable aims to engage teachers in the tri-state area with one of the Club’s most storied traditions: our Public Lectures.
The Explorers Club Monday Night Lecture Series has a rich history dating back more than a century, and is a time-honored Club tradition that stems from the informal and small-scale discussions held by explorers and Club members of the early 20th century. Since then, legendary explorers from Jim Lovell to Jane Goodall have presented from the club’s iconic lectern. The lectures have since become part of the heartbeat of the organization’s culture, and a platform from which people from all backgrounds and specializations can share their discoveries and passions with their peers and general public.
“For over a century, the Explorers Club lecture series has put educators face to face with the people redefining what we know about the world,” says Paul Tanghe, Director and Co-Chair of Public Lectures at The Explorers Club. “The Educator’s Roundtable turns that access into something they can carry straight into their classrooms.”
By inviting educators to attend lectures, network with explorers, and share ideas, the Educator’s Roundtable hopes to encourage teachers to promote the spirit of exploration in their classroom. After attending five lectures, this year’s cohort of teachers will come together to reflect on the ideas presented throughout the series, exchange innovative teaching strategies, and explore ways to translate exploration into authentic classroom learning.
Participating at the inaugural Educator’s Roundtable are:
“To step over the threshold of Explorers Club HQ is to enter an exciting world of adventure and a legacy of exploration,” says Andrés Ruzo, VP of Education at The Explorers Club. “For well over a century, lectures at HQ continue to connect audiences with cutting edge work from the field and the explorers making it happen. The new Educator’s Roundtable Program takes our mission further: by promoting exploration to educators in the tri-state area; and giving them a front row seat to experience the stories, access, and powerful network that makes the Explorers Club so special. We want local teachers to see the Club as their home base for exploration– a welcoming space that connects each teacher to their passions, and opens their classrooms to the world.”
