We are proud to announce that the 2025 Global Exploration Summit (GLEX) will take place September 12–14, 2025, in Ottawa, Canada, hosted in partnership with the Royal Canadian Geographical Society. This landmark event brings together explorers, scientists, and storytellers from around the world to chart the future of exploration and celebrate the shared human pursuit of discovery.

Held for the first time on Canadian soil, GLEX: Canada will spotlight the importance of global inclusion in science and exploration. The summit will feature voices from across the world, including Professor Brian Cox, British physicist and acclaimed science communicator, and Louise Leakey, Ph.D., a Kenyan paleontologist doing groundbreaking work on human origins and continuing the legacy of the Leakey family.

Other featured speakers include Roberta Bondar, Ph.D., Canada’s first female astronaut and neurologist, and Adam Shoalts, Ph.D., bestselling Canadian author, explorer and historian, and Canadian-American astronomer and planetary scientist Sara Seager, Ph.D.

“Exploration doesn’t stop at borders—and it certainly isn’t a uniquely American endeavor,” said Richard Wiese, President of The Explorers Club. “It’s a global calling that spans cultures, continents, and generations. Canada has always been one of our closest allies in this work—and we’re thrilled to host GLEX in Ottawa this Fall. John Glenn once told me, ‘When you look down on Earth, you don’t see borders—you see the human race. We look forward to welcoming the world to Ottawa to chart the next frontier of human discovery—together.”

“We are honoured to welcome this prestigious international gathering to Ottawa,” said John Geiger, CEO of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society. “At a time when the world faces extraordinary challenges, we believe exploration, scientific discovery, and geographic knowledge are powerful forces for truth, understanding, and unity.”

Additional details about the speaker lineup, program highlights, and special events will be announced in the coming weeks.
