Step into this 15th Century Jacobean-Renaissance mansion designed by famed architect Joseph Sterner for the prominent Clark Family.

The largest event area within the Club; perfect for intimate weddings, celebratory dinners, cocktail receptions, corporate meetings, photoshoots, and so much more. The second floor encompasses three adjoining spaces: the Clark Room, the Library, and the Outdoor Terrace.

CLARK ROOM

CLARK ROOM

Ensconced in mahogany linenfold paneling and a decorative plastered ceiling, the Clark Room creates a warm and inviting atmosphere fit for any occasion. The room’s focal point is a grandiose fireplace sculpted in the Jacobean-Renaissance style by George Gray Barnard. The Flags displayed along the walls represent some of the Club’s 222 expedition flags.

LIBRARY

Built to showcase a ceiling originally belonging to a 15th century Italian monastery, a portion of the Club’s 14,000 books line one wall, with beautiful stained glass windows along the other. The Library boasts an intricately-carved, functioning fireplace, as well as doors leading to the Terrace, making it an ideal space for any season.

Terrace

The Terrace is a charming and rare Manhattan outdoor space that can be used year-round. Initially an enclosed garden, the Clark Family transformed the Terrace into what you see today when Stephen Clark discovered the beautiful arcade. The limestone and marble columns feature capitals from the Hautes-Pyrénées region of France showcasing scenes typical of the Renaissance era. The ironwork is original to the home and was designed by master iron-sculptor Samuel Yellin.

Gallery

Entertain your guests with a reception or dinner in one of the Club’s most iconic spaces. The Gallery is known for its vaulted ceilings, historic artifacts, and unique atmosphere. The room is home to a treasured first volume of Napoleon’s Description de l'Égypte, the radio transmitter from the first plane to fly over the South Pole, and a narwhal tusk. Every specimen on display was collected many decades ago on scientific expeditions when taxidermy served as the primary resource for research and educational study.

The Roosevelt Room offers a quiet and secluded space perfect for smaller corporate and personal meetings. The board table was used by Club Member, President Theodore Roosevelt in the planning of the Panama Canal.

APOLLO ROOM

The newly-renovated Apollo Room was dedicated to all Apollo missions and astronauts in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing. The room features Explorers Club Flags that have flown in space, a Soyuz inner-flight jacket, and other interstellar artifacts. The ceiling was inspired by Al Worden's Apollo 15 mission and depicts his view of the night sky from space.
