Fifty people changing the world, the world needs to know about.
The EC50 was created to reflect a greater diversity of culture, ethnicity, and thought. As a global organization, we are striving to give voice to trailblazing explorers, scientists, artists and activists doing innovative scientific work, who are not yet known to a broader audience.
We could not be more proud of our EC50 program. Awardees from the past two years represent more than 50 countries of work, residing in more than 20 countries, and continue to push boundaries and forge frontiers.
We are so encouraged by this program that we are back again, seeking nominations for another 50 individuals who have explored in ways, or in realms, that perhaps we have not previously considered. You may nominate any explorer for this honor. They could be from any walk of life and any country.
The candidates’ work must involve an outstanding, innovative and an impactful mode of exploration that inspires the greater understanding of the world around us. The range of this work is boundless and could include anything from classic “boots in the mud” exploration to the communication of science and exploration through different mediums, from art to activism.
Nominators should consider: Does their work impact the communities they live in, in innovative ways? How would this honor amplify their work? Would this recognition help expand the definition of exploration and further promote the Club’s mission?
Explorers Club 50 recipients will be offered three years of complimentary membership; each recipient’s designation will be determined by the Membership Committee. Awardees will enjoy all of the benefits of membership, and notably, mentorship and networking opportunities. Recipients will be announced in early 2023. Nominations must be made by Explorers Club Members, but winners will be open to members and non-members alike. Members can nominate more than one individual.
We encourage wide-ranging and expansive nominations. We’re not looking for household names, we’re looking for individuals who deserve recognition and a spotlight for their efforts and contributions, including those whose achievements might have been overlooked or underappreciated in the past, in other words – 50 people changing the world, that the world needs to know about.
