Join The Explorers Club on Wednesday, February 21st for the first public screening of Keystone, an inspirational short film going behind the scenes of one of the largest rhino translocations in Kenya.
On average, a rhino is poached every 16 hours in Africa. Keystone: How to Move a Rhino takes you right to the center of this complex and high-stakes operation. Experience a front-row seat to the action as you watch an expert team track a rhino and work together in a race against time to move one of our world’s largest mammals to a safer location.
This thought-provoking film will be accompanied by a talk and Q&A with the film’s producer, Henry Cookson, a British explorer and founder of Cookson Adventures. In addition to recapping his expedition in Keystone, Cookson will also explore how bespoke travel can be used more effectively to fund scientific research and facilitate ground-breaking conservation projects, both on land and in our oceans.
This in-person event will include a screening of the 10-minute film, followed by a discussion with Henry Cookson as well as an audience Q&A.
Henry Cookson
Camera in hand, Henry Cookson is constantly in search of authentic experiences and new challenges, whether that’s exploring Ethiopia’s notorious Danakil Depression, climbing Aconcagua in Argentina, or visiting remote tribes in Nagaland, Myanmar. From an early age, he has held a deep curiosity to find and experience the most remote and unusual places and cultures on our planet. He began his career in polar exploration and went on to help plan, guide and execute a world-first 1,100-mile kite ski expedition to the Antarctic Southern Pole of Inaccessibility. He also led the 2011 ‘Walking with the Wounded’ charity expedition with Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and wounded veterans to the North Pole.
Henry founded Cookson Adventures in 2009. His pioneering, ultra-personalized itineraries can incorporate explorer yachts, helicopters, submersibles, and bespoke camps, often in the world’s most remote destinations. From taking the first private submersible to Antarctica in 2012 to discovering an ancient Roman shipwreck off the coast of Italy, conservation and purpose is placed at the heart of each of his client adventures, wherever possible.
Henry is also a fellow of the Royal Geographic Society and a passionate conservationist.
