Join The Explorers Club on Monday, December 11th for an evening with legendary field biologist Dr. George B. Schaller. George is an Explorers Medal recipient, Honorary Director of the club, and a senior conservationist with the Wildlife Conservation Society. Come and hear him discuss a lifetime spent in some of the world’s remotest regions – studying animal behavior and working to conserve their habitats around the globe.
Since 1952, George Schaller has been exploring the wilderness of the world with a focus on field research and wildlife conservation. His work with gorillas, tigers, pandas, snow leopards, and more has inspired generations of field biologists and conservationists. With over fifteen books and hundreds of articles published, Schaller has devoted his life to communicating the beauty and diversity of wildlife around the world, as well as the importance of taking steps to protect nature.
On Monday, December 11th, George will share just some of his countless stories from a lifetime of exploration.

George Schaller
The world’s preeminent wildlife conservationist and master biographer of the planet’s most charismatic species, George Schaller is the founding father of modern field biology. More aptly described as a feral biologist, Schaller has roamed the globe since the 1950s, conducting landmark long-term studies that have deepened humanity’s understanding of a multitude of species including gorilla, lion, tiger, panda, snow leopard, and jaguar. His popular books on those adventurous studies brought him a National Book Award and international acclaim. His work continues to shape wildlife protection efforts around the world and inspires generations of conservationists to follow in his footsteps.
