Dispatches from the Field, a new digital program designed to bring The Explorers Club community closer—wherever you are.
Each session kicks off with a 10-minute talk from a Featured Speaker, recorded and posted later to the public on explorers.org and our YouTube channel.
This will be followed by Campfire sessions—intimate, Members-Only breakout groups where you can connect, share ideas, and build relationships.
This edition features Dr. Jut Wynne FN’06, to present “Beneath Bhutan: Unearthing Cave Biodiversity”
In 2025, Jut led Bhutan’s first formal study of cave ecosystems. They documented bat roosts, collected bat acoustic and climate data, acquired trail camera data from cave entrances and sampled invertebrates—most of the species collected are likely new to science. The team’s work illuminated how wildlife, subterranean-adapted invertebrates, and religious pilgrimages intersect within these sensitive environments. These findings not only expand Bhutan’s biological knowledge but proffer a vital baseline for biodiversity monitoring and conservation planning.
