Dispatches from the Field, a new digital program designed to bring The Explorers Club community closer—wherever you are.
Each session kicks off with a 10-minute talk from a Featured Speaker, recorded and posted later to the public on explorers.org and our YouTube channel.
This will be followed by Campfire sessions—intimate, Members-Only breakout groups where you can connect, share ideas, and build relationships.
This edition features Jad Davenport, MN’06, to present “Black Wolves, White Bears: Studying the polar bear-hunting wolves of the Kaska Coast”
An introduction to the Kaska Coast Wilderness: an uninhabited boreal forest, tundra, and sea coast region on Canada’s Hudson Bay, spanning an area 50 times larger than Yellowstone. We’ll explore why the wolves here are the only known wolves to hunt polar bears, and what we are doing as citizen-scientists to research and document these wolves, their connection with polar bears, and their historic relationship with the First Nations people of the region.
