Dispatches from the Field, a new digital program designed to bring The Explorers Club community closer—wherever you are.
Each session kicks off with a 15-20-minute talk from a Featured Speaker, recorded and posted later to the public on explorers.org and our YouTube channel.
This will be followed by Campfire sessions—intimate, Members-Only breakout groups where you can connect, share ideas, and build relationships.
This edition features Catharina Frostad MI’15, to present “Sailing as a Platform for Change”
Sailing has been part of Catharina Frostad’s life for many years, but what it represents to her has changed. She started as a competitive sailor, focused on performance, teamwork and getting the boat across the finish line as fast as possible. Over time, sailing became something more: a platform that could give scientists access to remote places, support research and conservation, bring very different people together, and create experiences that build both individuals and teams. Drawing on expeditions in the Arctic and North Atlantic, citizen-science projects and years spent at sea, she shares how sailing became her platform for change — and what she has learned about people, purpose and the value of using what you already know to contribute to something beyond yourself.
