Dispatches from the Field, a new digital program designed to bring The Explorers Club community closer—wherever you are.
Each session kicks off with a 10-minute talk from a Featured Speaker, recorded and posted later to the public on explorers.org and our YouTube channel.
This will be followed by Campfire sessions—intimate, Members-Only breakout groups where you can connect, share ideas, and build relationships.
This edition features Bill Claps MR’16, to present “Art as Exploration:”
Visual artist, photographer, and filmmaker Bill Claps’ artistic practice involves exploring diverse geographies and ecosystems, in order to discover universal visual themes and connections across various cultures. His presentation will introduce us to several of his artistic projects. “Natural Abstractions,” an artistic series that draws inspiration from traditional Chinese and Japanese landscape painting and captures the ephemeral quality of light in nature, emphasizing the impermanence of the natural world and its constant transformation.
The Sacred Mountains Project is an ongoing art series that captures and communicates the power and spirit of holy mountains around the world. The Parco Archeologico di Luine Mapping Project, located in Val Camonica, Italy, is the site of the largest concentration of ancient rock petroglyphs in the world, with over 300,000 carvings dating back 12,000 years.
