Join The Explorers Club on Monday, October 2nd to learn about groundbreaking research being done by Dr. Ohad Birk with in the Negev, Israel, where he has uncovered 30 unique genetic diseases among Bedouin communities.

Different segments of society face unique medical concerns. Genetic diseases are one of the most striking examples of this. Ashkenazi Jews and the Bedouin community, for example, suffer disproportionately from very specific hereditary diseases. The Genetics Institute at Soroka is tackling these often life-threatening challenges head-on. Using best practice techniques in carrier testing, clinical and prenatal diagnosis, and genetic counseling, Dr. Birk is making the Negev a healthier place to live for people from every walk of life. He will also touch upon the work he has been doing with Sephardic Genetics, the genetics of the Jews with origins mainly in Arab lands.

Streaming live here on explorers.org, our YouTube Channel, and our Facebook Live — Monday, October 2nd at 7:00 pm ET.
