Richard T. Silver, M.D. FE’59

SilverDr. Richard Silver received his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College and has since led a very active medical career, serving on numerous review boards and study groups, editing and reviewing numerous medical journals, and is routinely listed among “The Best Doctors” of New York. He has been the principal investigator on numerous clinical trials, written four books, 35 chapters, 125 abstracts, over 200 peer-reviewed articles and has lectured nationally and internationally. As an explorer, Dr. Silver has photographed all over the world and recently won honorable mention in an international photography competition. He joined The Explorers Club after his work among the natives of the Mato Grasso of the Upper Xingu Basin in the Brazilian Amazon in 1965, where he discovered a new blood gene which has application in clinical transfusion medicine. He has served The Explorers Club on the Membership, Annual Dinner and Science Advisory committees, as well as the Board of Directors.
