SPECIAL EVENTS
Lowell Thomas Awards Dinner 2004

Live Auction

Friday, October 22, 2004
Central Park Boat House (entrance at East 72nd Street), New York City
Cocktails 6:30pm, dinner 7:30pm.

A select live auction was conducted at the dinner, promoting two conservation-based trips. The Club extends our congratulations to the winners. And we extend our thanks to the donors, the winners, and all who participated in the auction.

A Luxury African Safari with Conservation Corporation Africa: A safari for two guests sharing for 6 nights at Phinda Private Game Reserve in South Africa.

Valued at $7,500, the safari includes six nights' accommodations at a combination of two lodges on the reserve (Phinda Mountain and Phinda Forest Lodges) as well as all meals, teas and coffees, scheduled safari activities offered at the lodge, laundry, and emergency medical evacuation insurance. Phinda is situated in the lush Kwazulu-Natal region in northern South Africa. Sandwiched between Mkuze Game Reserve and the Greater St-Lucia Wetland Park (a World Heritage Site), it comprises 14 thousand hectares (34 thousand acres) of prime conservation land.

Seven distinct habitats shelter an abundance of wildlife including Africa’s Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, buffalo) and over 380 bird species, while the marine diversity off the nearby coast of Sodwana is said to rival the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

For more information on this destination, visit www.ccafrica.com and click on "Phinda".

An Exclusive Island and Diving Escape with Four Seasons Maldives and Malaysia Airlines: A five-night stay in the Maldives plus airfare for two guests.

Valued at $20,000, the trip includes business class round-trip airfare for two on Malaysia Airlines; all meals; two nights' accommodations at the luxury Four Seasons Resort, Maldives, staying at either the thatched beachside or waterside bungalows on a private island; three nights onboard a luxury 122-foot power catamaran diving boat.

The luxurious eleven–state-room catamaran, the Four Seasons Explorer, allows avid divers, water enthusiasts, nature lovers, and twenty-first century explorers to discover remote shores and rarely visited diving and snorkeling sites, while enjoying the same service, comfort, and style offered at its award-winning resort.
