News Release

May 21, 2007

Distant Journeys, Daryl Hawk’s new custom printed book of his favorite 153 color travel photographs taken over the past twenty-five years is now available.  These images were created on various journeys in some of the most remote places in the world.  The high Arctic, the Andes, Bhutan, New Zealand, Antarctica and much more are some of the featured destinations!

Daryl Hawk is well known for his visually interpretive style where he uses his camera to tell stories of some of the most isolated places in the world.  He captures the heart and soul of a country on film, depicting the characteristics of the landscape, the timeless human moments and the passions of the people.  “I like looking for wild country to be young in where my mind can run free and fast with the constant visual stimulation I experience from dawn to dusk – always seeking and searching for something new and different.”

Daryl is also a travel writer, entrepreneur, poet, and lecturer whose articles and photographs often appear in magazines and newspapers worldwide.  He has been featured on NBC’s Today Show and Fox 5 television.  He is a member of the Explorer’s Club which is based in New York City.  Founded in 1904, the Explorer’s Club promotes the exploration of land, sea, air and space.  Daryl is also a fellow of the acclaimed Royal Geographical Society in London, England.

Close to his heart is Daryl’s The Unconventional Traveler cable television show which he has hosted and produced for over ten years now.  Daryl has created over 100 shows featuring some of the world’s leading explorers, travel photographers and filmmakers.

Books can be ordered by visiting Daryl Hawk’s website at www.darylhawk.com or by calling 203-834-9595 or e-mailing hawkphoto@optonline.net.
