Join President Lorie Karnath FI'89, Dinner Co-Chairs Capt. Norman L. Baker FN'70 and Capt. Alfred S. McLaren, Ph.D., USN (Ret.), FE'71, Master of Ceremonies Jim Fowler MED'66 and Rolex Watch, U.S.A. at the 2011 Lowell Thomas Dinner in St. Louis, MO on Saturday, October 15th.

The Lowell Thomas Dinner will be held at The Missouri History Museum, located in Forest Park, 5700 Lindell Boulevard, St. Louis, MO 63112. The VIP reception will be held from 5:00 – 6:00 pm, check-in beginning at 5:00 pm at the south door of the Thomas Jefferson Memorial Building. The General reception will be held from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm, with check in beginning at 5:30 pm just inside the Lindell Boulevard entrance. The dinner program will take place between 7:00 – 10:00 pm. Dinner attire is black tie or native dress. The Master of Ceremonies will be the Club’s Honorary Chairman, Jim Fowler MED’66.

The weekend will kick off Friday, October 14th with the Lowell Thomas Science Symposium followed by our Welcome Reception held at The Racquet Club, TRC, located at 476 N. Kingshighway Boulevard, St. Louis, MO 63108. The event will be moderated by Robert R. Archibald, Ph.D. FN’10 with our 2011 Lowell Thomas Awardees making presentations followed by a Q&A panel discussion.

Check-in begins at 3:30 pm, located just inside TRC entrance. The symposium program will run from 4:00-7:00 pm and the reception from 7:00-9:00 pm. Please note TRC has a strict dress code policy. Men should wear a suit or sport coat with tie and comparable evening or business attire for women. We will not be able to reimburse those who are turned away due to failure to comply with TRC’s dress code.

Please note you will not receive a physical ticket for either event through the mail. You will check in upon arrival and receive a wrist band for entry to the event.

The St. Louis Chapter has scheduled a trip to the Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site, an astonishing prehistoric site in Collinsville, Illinois, a short distance from St. Louis for Saturday October 15th. Hotel Reservations


A block of rooms has been reserved at the Ritz Carlton - St. Louis. A special rate has been given for the period Thursday, October 13th 2011(check-in) through Sunday, October 16th 2011 (check-out). The Deluxe Guest Room rate (double rate & single rate) quoted for our event is $149 per night (additional local taxes apply). Reservations may be made by calling The Ritz-Carlton - St. Louis (1-800-960-7056) and referencing that you are with The Explorers Club – Lowell Thomas event group. Reservations can also be made on the Reservations page of http://www.ritzcarlton.com by entering the unique group code ( EXPEXPA ). All reservations should be received by the Hotel no later than September 13, 2011 to receive this special discounted rate.
