“Orphans of Apollo”
Directed by Becky Neiman and Michael Potter
Run Time: 52 min

“The Greatest Space Story Never Told” tells the tale of MirCorp a rebel alliance of entrepreneurs who dared to try and buy the Russian space station Mir and boost it up to a stable orbit. MirCorp was funded by Walt Anderson who is a folk hero to many in the New Space community. A self-made multimillionaire who built his fortune in the telecom industry, he invested much of that wealth in a variety of space ventures in the 1990s, from Rotary Rocket to LunaCorp. His highest-profile venture, though, was an audacious plan to take over the Russian space station which was being abandoned by the Russian space agency so it could focus on the International Space Station and turn it into the first manned commercial outpost in orbit.
