East and South Asia Chapter Event - Hosting President Alan Nichols at Capital Club in Beijing

The East and South Asia Chapter will be hosting the first official meeting in the Club’s history chaired by an Explorers Club President in Beijing on September 18th, 2012 at the Capital Club. President Alan Nichols and the chapter will be honoring the President of the China Mountaineering Agency, Li Zhixin, as well as receiving an Explorers Club flag for Alan's expedition which will track the last days of Chinggis Qa’an. The purpose of the event will be to recognize the importance of China to explorers today and to the history of exploration.

Steven Schwankert, Chapter Chair of the East and South Asia Chapter, will chair the event. Members of the chapter, invited representatives of the Chinese Mountaineering Association, representatives of the National Geographic Society, along with other interested explorers are invited. President Nichols will be on hand to talk about the flag expedition and to answer any questions or discuss The Explorers Club in general, and your participation as a member. The Club's official travel operator, Wandrian Adventures' John Ricci, is preparing a personalized trip for any members who would like to attend this international explorers event. More info below.

Wandrian Adventures Presents 5 Days in Beijing

For those of you who are interested in attending the chapter event Wandrian Adventures has designed a special 5 day tour of Beijing showing you the authentic Beijing, and an authentic China. As one of China's four ancient capitals, with its profound history of 3000 years and 20 million people, covering 16,808 square kilometers, Beijing is the cultural, political, and historical center of China. It is widely considered to be one of the most magnificent cities in the world. Let’s share a journey of exploration which will ultimately invest in your life story!

The Highlights:
Enjoy privately guided tours of Landmark Structures and temples, including The Forbidden City, The Temple of Heaven, The Lama Temple, The Summer Palace and Trekking on the real wild Great Wall, feel the history in every breath that is China.

You will also learn and appreciate Beijing traditional arts, such as Tai Chi, The Beijing opera, handicrafts and Beijing traditional cuisine. And finally, you will share your life experiences with the people in the Huiling community services project.

Dates TBD based on final number but will be either: September 12th – 17th or September 19th – 24th, 2012. The cost of $2,100 covers all venues, most meals and is based on double occupancy
