Within our collections you will find information about explorers of all stripes – filmmakers, surveyors, businessmen and soldiers. Some traveled to Africa, others to the Orient; some explored the Arctic, others the Wild West. You will also find evidence of various organizations where explorers have gathered together and found support, including The Explorers Club itself.

The items in Research Collections have been arranged and described according to their format and the reason for their creation. Accordingly, the Club has three main “collections” which themselves hold multiple collections. These include:

•  Approximately 550 linear feet of archives and manuscripts
•  Approximately 900 objects in its art and artifacts collection
•  Approximately 13,000 volumes; 5,000 maps and a variety of audiovisual materials in its library

Unfortunately, we do not have a mechanism at this time to search across these categories. The hyperlinks above can guide you to the information that we have available about each collection and the items therein. The amount of description available varies widely, but we are working to make things more accessible every day.

If you find something on one of our holdings pages that you would like to see, contact us! The Club has a Curator on staff to answer targeted research inquiries and welcome visitors to the collections. A visit to the clubhouse will be necessary for those who do not have specific inquiries and/or need to consult more than a few pages of material. More information can be found on the visit us page.
