This category is open to individuals who wish to support the goals of The Explorers Club but do not presently possess the qualifications and experience to be accepted as members. Associates of The Explorers Club will be men or women of good reputation and of excellent moral and ethical standards.
Becoming an Associate of The Explorers Club can provide a stepping stone to eventual full membership in the Club. By attending events, meeting Club members, and learning more about the demanding world of exploration, Associates may, on their own initiative, take an opportunity to join an expedition and pursue meaningful field research which would lead to greater qualifications towards possible membership status.
Applications should be completed and returned to the Membership Committee together with a sponsoring letter. Processing will be completed only upon receipt of all materials under a single cover. It is the responsibility of the sponsor to see that an application is complete.

After the complete application is received, the Membership Committee will review it for eligibility, as defined by Article VIII of The Explorers Club Bylaws. This committee will evaluate the applicant for admission to The Explorers Club and then, if accepted for admission, assign the category of membership. The Membership Committee, not the sponsoring member, decides which category of membership is assigned. The Membership Committee’s recommendations are submitted to the Board of Directors for final approval.
If an applicant is elected to membership as an Associate of the Club, the Club will notify both the applicant and the sponsor. If an applicant is denied membership, only the sponsor will be notified. Annual dues and initiation fee are due forty-five days after initial notification. Dues will be pro-rated by half for all members accepted after June 30th.
