Introduction
Ulysses almost got trapped forever on the island of the lotus-eaters. It took him along time to recover the meaning of his mission, to think again of his beloved Penelope and of his kingdom in Ithaca. Time went on while he tried to take his crew away from the worst temptations: the effects which produce lasting happiness. Happiness ... a magic word, a state everybody wants to reach. That was the only essence of the island of the Lotus, a flower whose scent caused a profound and total well-being, trapping and making them forget their aims and destination. It all shows that the Isle of Djerba was that magic place mentioned in the Odyssey. We searched for that magic flower, not to forget but to rest. We couldn't find it...does it exist?, we wondered. It seemed it didn't but... why were we here so many days not wanting to leave? At last we realized! The Isle of Djerba itself was the mythological lotus flower which exuded the strong feelings which provoked oblivion and kept you back there.
