Introduction
On 8 August 2004 a family of four with their two cats set out from Singapore in their sailing yacht Jocara on an expedition of marine research, education and public awareness, carrying Explorers Club flag number 33. This expedition was also accredited and supported by the Ministry of Education in Singapore, the Tropical Marine Science Institute and the Department of Biological Sciences in the National University of Singapore and the Institute of electrical and Electronic Engineers, Oceanic Engineering Society. The Singapore Science Centre partnered JIOQ to bring marine science education to a wider audience through exposure on its "wall of science" and a major school robotics competition involving some 5000 students.

After a journey of some 8,000 nautical miles, reaching as far as East Africa (where we spent 3months in Tanzania and Zanzibar researching dolphin tourism and Coelacanth habitat) wereturned to Singapore on 30 August 2005. This is a brief report of the expedition made to The Explorers Club.
