ABOUT THE CLUB
Daniel A. Bennett is the 36th president of The Explorers Club. Bennett has participated in nine flag expeditions: Nepal Upper Arun Valley Expedition (2001); Humpback Whale Research Projects (2002 & 2003); Madagascar Flora & Fauna Survey (2004); Kilimanjaro Bioprospecting Expedition (2005); Easter Island Archeology Expedition (2005); Corucia Zebrata Solomon Islands bio-survey (2006); Canadian Arctic Expedition (2006) and Papua New Guinea (2007). He has also participated in expeditions in Greece National Geographic with archaeologist Johan Reinhard, Ph.D., and assisted Dr. Reinhard in excavations in the Andes Mountains of Peru. In past years, Bennett spent over six weeks in the Galapagos assisting Frank Sulloway, Ph.D. in taking a series of comparative photographs to show ecological and geographical change on the islands. A native of San Antonio, Texas, Bennett is an entrepreneur and business executive. He was the founder and CEO of Sunbelt Sportswear and DAB Real Estate, Ltd. He was a member of the Board of Directors of JP Morgan Chase Bank (San Antonio), former chairman of ACCION Texas, former treasurer of The Mountain Institute (Washington D.C.) and currently serves as treasurer of ACCION USA. Since 2006 Bennett has spent most of his volunteer time as the president of The Explorers Club. Outside of his Explorers Club duties, Bennett enjoys life with his wife Colette (whom he met on an Explorers Club expedition in 2002), their six-month-old son Grant, and his two older children, Danny and Marissa.
